Shaping and homogenising the laser beam profile are important tools for improving the results of the laser process.

Thanks to a range of optical systems, we are able to offer our customers virtually any spot geometry within the laser focus.
Multimode optical fibres typically produce a Gaussian energy distribution at the focus.
Hexagonal or octagonal optical fibres can be used for pure homogenisation within the laser’s circular operating point. Mergenthaler manufactures such optical cables and achieves almost perfect top-hat profiles at the focus.
For beam shaping, we use either specialised optics, microlens arrays, DOE (diffractive optical elements) or ROE (reflective optical elements). This allows us to generate virtually any geometry.
We also always pay particular attention to the integration of a pyrometer coaxial with the laser beam.
